Power Stone is essentially an early take on the arena fighter genre, with some goofy items and abilities to use to cause pure chaos with up to four players. There are three gameplay styles, speed, seek, and shoot, and while speed is certainly the best of the bunch and most worth replaying, they each do a good job of breaking up gameplay and keeping things interesting. The exploration zones are gone, replaced with a more linear level-based adventure, but a darn good one. The original Sonic Adventure is beloved, sure, but Sonic Adventure 2 was honed to a fine point. Absolutely incredible and more audacious than ever, with a punk soundtrack that you’ll have in your head for literal decades after, Crazy Taxi 2 is a Dreamcast essential, without a doubt. A Dreamcast classic.Ĭrazy Taxi’s speedy arcade-based gameplay keeps you wanting more every time, and Crazy Taxi 2 perfected the formula. Grinds and tricks are all present as you rollerblade around Tokyo-to, but you’ll also be spraying graffiti around the city to mark your gang’s presence, and continued defiance of the oppressive police force.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was one of the biggest games of this era, and Jet Set Radio offered a damn good take on skating action. If you go back to one fighting game on the Dreamcast, there’s no question that it should be Soulcalibur. The detailed character models still hold up today, and the swift, kinetic weapon-based combat is still satisfyingly sharp.
When the original Soulcalibur released it was possibly the best-looking game of all time.
